Painting an Airlid
I know there use to b e the "how to" before, but looks like all the past posts are gone.
How do you prep and paint the airlid on LS1s? Specifically, what kind of sanding, paint type, etc. I have an SLP air lid.

basically clean it... if you want it all smoothed out use something like 600-800 grit wet sandpaper to take the texture off it... clean again...
spray paint adhesion promoter on it and within 10 mins of spraying the promoter spray your color paint that you want... from anything like real automotive paint that you would use on your car with a spray paint gun for an air compressor to an enamel aerosal paint... i used aerosal wheel spray paint on my intake manifold and various engine items and it never turned colors or chipped off.
for items such as this i wouldn't use a clear coat on unless you use real auto paint and real auto. clear coat only because with spray paint clear coats it turns yellow over time.Brandon
