just read an article about cam head combos. I really think a livernois stage II cam and trickflows ts3 heads might be the direction I take. those paired with a fast 102 would be plenty of power. thoughts?

If you feel you're getting more power manually shifting an auto, your shift points need to be re-tuned. Sounds like the computer is shifting the car too early.

    article I was referencing

Cylinder Head Testing - GM High Tech Performance Magazine

and I did have a lot of questions about why I stayed in my power band longer when shifting manually as opposed to automatic.

Wish it listed the cam specs but by my calculations that is a good deal.

No guessing or chasing parts. Only thing I would swap out of that kit is for ARP hex bolts or studs.

my current cam is about the same lift. and the intake/exhaust is 238/242 at .50. I'm doing this top end kit with the 102mm fast with the throttle body. what would be a good cai for this size?

fast toys 104 lid. Its what I have and its awesome. Also if you are looking at aftermarket heads go with the tfs ls3 255 heads you will not be disappointed. I have those on my 421 stroker but at some point I am going to send them to get machined further by FRH for even more power. This paired with a fast 102 and a matched cam and you'll get some good numbers but even more importantly the car will run.

Comp Cams has a nice on-line cam selection tool you can use.
