Gutsy Swap! Looks Proffesional. One of the best looking trucks I've seen.

Nice job. It looks stock. Keep the 262 stickers so the ricers don't know.

    Nice!

One question. Where did you get the upgraded fuel spider? I'm putting a 383 into a 2000 Tahoe Limited and I don't think the stocker will be enough...

Any auto parts store. I don't think you can buy the "poppet valve" spider anymore. Although you can get individual poppets. But as the whole assembly, parts stores sell the upgraded spider; be prepared to spend upwards of $350+ for the unit

    2 questions

1 what is needed to wire the 5.7 injectors?

2 why would you stab the engine before you got your new converter?

    1) a v8 fuel injection plug in from a wiring harness the same year as the F.I and a V8 wiring diagram

    2) I found out the hard way my converter wouldn't work when the 350 wouldn't bolt up to the trans. So than I ordered another one

After playing with computer tunes without making very much progress and a ton of drivability problems... I decided to change computers & operating systems. And well...

Excellent truck man, would you consider doing that swap on another truck or would you pm a build sheet on everything you used, my motor is tired and needs more power

Nothing wrong with a Vortec swap, I've done plenty and have a few left in the garage. If you keep tyhe Vortec you might concider replacing the intake down the road since it's flow and rpm limited and swap with a Marine or Ram Jet. My only concern is your cam lift. Did you use heavier lift springs and did you machine the heads to compensate for coil bind since the Vortec heads are only good for about .480 lift. I've broke plenty of stock springs playing with cams and rockers just to see how long they'd last. LOL. I still have my 97 Vortec that I sprayed over and over with a 150 plus shot and I swapped for an LS6 because I broke a valve spring and decided to do something different.

Hope things work out for you.

What exactly is required to upgrade the fuel system on the Vortec to keep up with a 383 and very mild cam? I'm guessing its gonna need a tune as well...

Im new and I know this post is old, but I cant figure out how to pm you. But are those headers on the 4.3 you pulled? where did you get them, or were they the $600 jba's? im really wanting some, id like to do a 5.3 swap but im too cheap to pay somebody to do it and im not 100% confident in myself to finish when I start!
