So does the Deltrand battery tender. It goes into a storage mode when the bat. reachs full charge. All automatic.

How would a battery charger cook a battery exactly? Just curious.
I'm sorry I have to disagee with you, that a battery charger does not shut down when the battery reaches 100%. A battery charger keeps charging the battery all the time even after the battery fully charged, there for cooking the battery acid dry.

A battery tender, trickles a small amount of charge into the battery and it too can cook a battery but at a very slow rate.

You need a battery tender with float mode in it. Which means that the battery tender will stop trickling a charge to the battery when its full.

I researched battery tenders when I decided to store my car for the winter and spoke to a number of mechanes and battery salesman and this is what they all came up with.

Maybe mine has that then because I know it shuts off when the battery is fully charged. I have 3 settings on mine; high/med/low.

Guessing low is like a trickle charge (it shows a snowflake). I need to read about it more as I just literally got it as a gift.

So basically I need to get one that has float mode on it, so I won't cook my battery?
