Ok specs first
Processor AMD 2400+ SA 1.9Ghz
RAM 768MB
GPU AGP 128MB (dunno kind of card)
MB - Shuttle AK38
PSU - ATX 300W
OS Windows XP home
Its my uncles pc. He told me he was on it and it was being really slow one day so he went to run a virus scan on it and crashed. So he went to reboot and it booted fine until it got to the Windows loading screen all these lines came up on the monitor and it crashed.
He tries to reboot it and all it says on the monitor is "No video signal".
Ok so i came over and we ruled out and did the following.
-Changed PSUs to no effect.
-Changed monitor and cords to no effect.
-Replaced the AGP card to no effect.
Im really not sure what to do next or why it is acting that way in the first place. Ok pcs wizzes plz help me out on this i really want him to have a workin pc its the only one hes got.
Thanks guys!

I think it may be time for an upgrade...AGP vid card is really old. AGP slot might be bad along with the Mobo. Sounds like something wrong with the video for sure...is there an AVG slot on the Mobo?
Really need to upgrade your PC...Last edited by Blown Interceptor; 12-12-2009 at 08:06 PM.

Did you read the post? Its not my pc. Mine is awesome, his is old and he cant afford a new one right now, thus why we are fixing it.
To DrMilhouse - No when you boot nothing comes up. The fans run and everything is turning but it keeps saying "No video signal".
Also its not the AGP slot, i used a pci card to no effect either. Either its totally trashed or there is some dumb random thing that is messed up.

On the older units, if the bios is corrupted sometimes the only way to establish a vga signal is to use a oci video card instead of an agp. If you have an old card kicking around, or even a 16 bit card (if his computer has a sixteen bit slot, that may allow it to boot with a visible screen. You could then re-flash the bios.
Wow... I have been doing this crap a long time.....
I bought an Asus at BB for $440.00 with a duo core cpu, 6g ram, and Win7 that works like a champ... It is far more "clone like" than the typical name brand vendors and I suspect it would last your Uncle a decade or so before it would need replacement based on your description of him and how he uses it...

Did you try some good ram? That would be my first suspect. Unplug CD rom, floppy, HD ect and see if you can at least get it to post. Does the processor fan at least spin when powered on?
