I'm going to tell you all about my bad weekend:
I purchased POR-15 which is a clear coat for polished alum/chrome. On the surface it sound like a good clear, able to withstand 350 degs. The instructions said that you can apply it with any paint brush or roller. Also we had to polish everthhing before the clear. We got up early Sat morn to polish all the parts I made, took a couple of hours. i mixed up the POR-15 and started to put it on the parts, any thing that was vertical it ran and ran bad. You could only apply this stuff very very thin almost nothing on the brush.TOO LATE....I had a hugh mess, so i took a cleaner and took all of it off. Now I have to start over, I have now sanded all this stuff with 1200 & 1500 grit wet & dry and started re-polishing all the parts to a mirror finish. I'll just wax the parts and hope they hold up.!!!

My life is a- Ben Stiller movie.
dicks! I called them and asked what happens on vertical surfaces and they told me it wouldn't run badly at all. i knew that stuff was too good to be true. I'm sorry to hear that you had such a hard time, Bill-that's a shame to have done all that work just to redo it all.

Thanks Bill. You can order one of the brushed aluminum ones from WS6store.com and then use it as a template for the polished stainless or aluminum. That would work best for yours.

That's another reason why I don't want to put anything on my polished stainless steel or polished aluminum areas. If anything happens to it, it's hosed.
I just make sure I'm disciplined enough to keep things polished as much as possible.
Sorry to hear of your demise and hope that you can straighten it out.
