lt1 hp numbers
My buddy just bought a '97 Z28 with the following mods:
lt4 hotcam
moroso intake (basically same as K&N I guess?)
msd ignition
elecric water pump and fan
what type of hp numbers do you guys figure that its putting down?
It's also an m6 and has 4.10s, so what do you think it would run in the quarter?

Does it have any PCM tuning for the cam? Any exhaust work? If it has neither of those, he's getting nowhere near the potential of the cam. With no exhaust/tuning, maybe 290rwhp. If it has a full exhaust and a GOOD tune, then 330+rwhp.

Sounds about right to me! I'm putting down 330 rwhp & 319 ft/lbs as measured on a Mustang dyno with a CC305 cam (basically lt4 hotcam) CNC ported LT4 heads w/ 1.6 rockers, full exhaust, 3.73, M6, MSD ignition, ram air, 58mm TB, 30lb injectors, reprogrammed PCM, blah-blah-blah... but without a means of exhaling (full exhaust) and no means of the PCM capturing the full benefit of the cam profile thru a modified program those factors alone will kill your HP/ Tq figures.

Sorry, he's still running the stock exhaust manifolds, but runs a 4 inch pipe back from the y pipe with a blow though muffler. He also has a new flash on the computer

The stock manifolds and y pipe are the most restrictive part of the factory exhaust,so it doesnt matter too much what's behind it in this case. He's still losing a bunch of power. And there's probably more power to be had in the tune, unless it was tuned on a dyno by someone who knows what they're doing.

Cool, thanks! I should probably spank him with my '69, 365hp at the wheels, but we were wondering what ballpark it was in

With a good driver should run 13.3 or so.
