Do you guys think a ported throttle body is worth it or is it a waste of money.

Do you guys think a ported throttle body is worth it or is it a waste of money.
yes, it costs nothing if you do it yourself, and it makes a difference
:yup: It is worth it.
Thanks I will probably do it.
It is most definitely worth it....
I just did mine today. works like a champ. Do that with the free ram air mod, and you got all the air you need lol (almost)
If you consider 5rwhp worth it.
Worrying yourself over 5-10 rwhp here or there does no good. Do the big mods. Only bolt on's I'd really suggest would be the lid, and exhaust type things. Porting your TB.. doing smooth bellows.. shit like that adds up in the end.. but it won't be the determining factor in a race really. Never was with me.
If you get a better cam, and its asking for a lot more air, I "highly" suggest you let it suck more air with a better TB...don't let it choke your LS1.
It'll improve your throttle response too, makes it that much quicker to get more power to the wheels from a dig.
Definately worth it.
I did it - bought one - and it really didn't make much difference. A bit better throttle response, but the increase in horsepower was negligible.
If its a standalone mod it isn't hardly going to do anything to an otherwise stock motor.Quote:

How Hard is this to do yourself? Is there a instruction link for this?Quote:

Well if a motor can't breathe it is not going to be able to put out all of the power that you hoped for. I talked to the guys at GMMG this weekend and they said if I had a ported throttle body, a LS6 intake and get rid of the Flowmaster I would have gotten better numbers. It is doing all it can do with the amount of air coming in and going out. There is another 20 or so horsepower that I have trapped that I can't make with the stock LS1 intake, stock T/B, and the Flowmaster.Quote:

If not what is the normal cost of having one done?
YOu can trash a TB if you do not know what your doing for sure.....Shaner does em right for about $125 bucks....well worth the money...Quote:
