1800 is about stock, going 2600 is just about same as stock.
When you upgrade the stall thats upgrading the torque converter, right?
I'm use to manuals, so all this A4 talk has me confussed. I heard the best thing you can do to the A4 is upgrade the TC. So i thought i'd do that and put in a 3.42 also. But i also need something thats streetable, i'm not trying to build a track only car..
Putting a stall in less than 3500 is almost pointless in an LS1.
Yes that is correct. You need to actually call the manufacture that you are looking @ and tell them exactly what you have and what your intentions are so you get the correct conv. Most people conceptions are different on the same thing that why you need to talk to the manufacture. It's like buying a cam off someone's recommendation on this site and not the manufacture.......
A BIG NO-NO!!:nono:
I did plan on talking to my mechanic at Thunder Racing, i was just trying to get a better understanding of it which i still havn't gotten..
Yes....100% by far for a A4 car you can do is upgrade the converter. But just like LS2 said talk to each converter manufacture and ask them what they recommend with your setup and mods. It can be just like a clutch even though they are the same "part" each manufactures are a little different and will do different things.
Every manufacture has there own idea's on stators so it is a huge difference from brand to brand. All I can say is don't bullshit them on the ? they ask. Most people do and they don't get the best choice for there application. Yeah it's faster than stock so they think they did good but that doesn't mean shit!
As I have stated many times you can have A4 cars fast with stock conv. my car went low 11's on 17"s with stock conv and 1.6 60's ALL day.
now did your car do 11's with just pump gas or with the help of nos?
Nice !!
But back to subject...Tell call yank and talk to dave m, tell him what you currently have and what you plan on doing with the car, they can recomend a converter for you, some even will put in a "free" adjustment. say you get a Yank SS3200 now, after your heads, cam and other fun stuff, a SS4000 would be better, they can "adjust" it for you for no charge, if you work that into the deal.
But just like LS2 said dont bull shit them to feel good or you will regret it.
Let us know how it works out.
