Less Boost=Less Horsepower?

Ok guys,I know whatIi'm going to ask goes against eveything on this site but here goes. I have a C5 Z06 Corvette with a boosted LS1 with 800 HP at the crank in it. I autocross the car and am finding that this is a challenge to modulate the throttle without breaking the tires loose all too often. I am thinking about cutting the boost and a tune to get it down to maybe 600 HP-would this be as easy as a smaller pulley on the Vortech supercharger and a tune or would it need more work done to it? Here is a list of what is in the motor now:

Forged LS1 with Wiseco Pistons, Callie's rods and Arp bolts. Stock LS6 is 100% and comes with car.
A&A Vortec Si blower 3.4 pulley
Advance Inductions 226cc ported heads with BTR springs and rocker trunion upgrade.
Custom spec blower cam, LS7 lifters with hardened 7.35 pushrods.
Custom 4" blower inlet
Methanol Injection
Dewitt's cutdown radiator with spal fans
ARH 1 7/8" headers ceramic coated
Corsa exhaust
Mantic 9000 dual disk clutch with remote bleeder.
60lb injectors with in tank C6z06 fuel pump and kenne bell boost a pump
RPM Poly driveshaft couplers
RPM level 3 diff with 3.73 gears
ECS trans/diff brace

Maybe I am misunderstanding you, but a smaller pulley on the supercharger will spin faster and create more boost, not less.

Sorry,I meant could a different size pulley be installed on the supercharger...

I don't see why it couldn't, but that's a lot of HP/TQ you're looking to lose. Not sure how you determine how much boost you'd make with what pulley size on your exact setup.

Yes, you can change pulleys and technically make less power. Honest answer, you may be better off running a car that is setup for what you want to do versus compromising what you already have.

A cam built for higher rpm power would help, as much of auto crossing is at light/part throttle.

Or get fatter tires!!!!!! :flex: :burnout: :drivin:

boost is a funny thing on the autocross course. truth is, from my experience, you'll need to find a setup that is going to net the flattest torque curve. I run with a few guys with turbo cars and they're downright wild when the boost comes on. granted, your supercharger is a different ballgame, but I believe the concept is the same. you don't need maximum power, but it needs to be managed in such a way that it's linear in it's delivery and not just a huge kick in the pants.
