I have a monster stage 2 and really like it. Drives almost like stock.
I burned up my factory clutch doing a few too many hot laps at the track. I replaced with the LS7 clutch LS2 flywheel and it's been solid for the last 10+ years without any slipping. I currently have a GM hotcam, LS7 lifters, and tuning pushing in the range of 450HP at the crank, still with 3.42 gears. Unless you are well over 500HP or plan to be doing some significant power adding, this is a tough deal to beat and feels absolutely like stock. Be sure to do the slave cylinder at the same time for cheap insurance.
LS7 Clutch kit is the best bang for the buck for mild builds. It is rated to handle 550 lbs of tq. I used it for many yrs till I needed to upgrade to my current potential output level. Currently at 450hp & tq but in next yr or so I'll be getting better heads and cam matched for my 403. I have a Monster stg4 that I got for 1/2 off from another member that needed a stg 5.
I'll also suggest the following:
Make sure you get a GM slave, the knockoffs suck and wear out fairly quickly.
Get a Tick Master, the stock one sucks and has several issues with it.
