NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Never use Penzoil. NEVER! believe me. I pull apart engines for a living and everytime we get a penzoil motor it is all gunked up. It's really bad, trust me. obviously if you change you oil every 3,000 miles it won't be to bad, but still, don't do penzoil.
I use amsoil. It $7.99 a quart but I have heard it is the best.

Oil doesn't not cause sludge.
I run Pennzoil Platinum 10w-30.
Currently there is VP racing oil in the Trans Am, but it will be switching over soon.

Not changing oil often enough causes sludge. IMHO

Correct.
But that isn't the oil doing it. It is improper maintenance.

So I should just throw out years of analytical data and lab work and trust some 19 year old kid? Oil doesn't cause sludge son. Improper maintenance/PCV malfunctions/shitty OCI's cause sludge. I will put Pennzoil Platinum up against Amsoil any old day of the week. We will base this contest on a wide variety of UOA's and go from there. Game? Amd why are you paying that for Amsoil son? I pay significantly less....try the prefered customer program and get it for under $5 per quart.

Sarge is the oil junkie here. He has his oil tested and then retested. I think I will stick with what Sarge (and years of testing) says than a 19 year old.

Yes! j/k
It's up to you. I just have had nightmares about cleaning Penzoil cylinder heads. We would usually hot tank those things 3-4 times before they were "clean". It's not really sludge either, it gets really hard almost like carbon.
All though I agree if you change your oil every 3,000 miles you will be fine. Penzoil just seems to sludge up really bad if you don't change your oil often. Much worse than other types of oil. This is just my opinion and I am not claiming to know everything. I am sure most of you guys know more about these engines than I ever will, I am just throwing my opinion out there.

I've been using Royal Purple 10W-30 for almost the past year. I'm not sure it's worth the money.
I've had my car about a year now, and was trying to find a way to clean up some of the deposits that seemed to have built up from the previous owner.
Next Change I think I'm gonna Auto-RX then switch to PP.
